2016 Annie's: Racing Greyhounds

My classmate/coworker Taha Neyestani and I were nominated for the student category for the Annie's (Taha won the top prize, you can see his masterpiece here: We fretted over what to wear and I had the semi-mad idea to make a skirt for it. It mostly turned out okay.

If n&p were a TV series...

You can be sure I would push for a BACKSTORY EPISODE of course! Nips was abandoned at the police station where he was taken in and brought up in the police academy while Porkington is from a well-to-do aristocratic family but chose to dedicate his life to public service.

I pictured this hypothetical show taking place on normal backgrounds but switching to the newspaper for travel shots, transitions, opening sequences, and closing credits. There would be a nice big story arc that spans the season like a proper episodic drama and smaller arcs and themes between.

There are also plenty of supporting actors in my TV series musings:

Suffragette bunbuns
Bunbun with Onions
More bunbuns
Cameraman & Subject
Morning Tea & Pasties

I couldn't think of anything to draw and was doing a lot of ships at work lately so borrowed this scene from Master and Commander for a design/study exercise. Next time I’ll do something colourful and non-British, I promise!

I went to Peru recently and meant to do a Peruvian-style pattern but it turned out a bit tiki instead.

Nips & Porkington Illustrations

These were two 'thank you' drawings for people who helped a bunch. It was a little strange to use pencil again after so long.

The Casebook of Nips & Porkington: It Moves!

Oh forgot to mention there's a tumblr film blog:

Probably the smarter thing would have been to make a model sheet but I just used the better-looking board drawings instead... Now I have to make everything up when I animate.

Some of my favourite frames that you might feel but never see! Actually when I had my film critiqued by Mike Surrey he specifically stopped at this part to tell me that the weight is in the joints and my knees never move. I've fixed it since.

And finally this, because it looks kind of exciting:

The Casebook of Nips & Porkington: AAAH 4th Year Film Project...

Presenting "The Casebook of NIPS & PORKINGTON", the 2-minute film-extraordinaire! Yes I've animated a whopping 4 seconds of those 2 minutes so far.
Some concept stuff and life drawing-influenced doodles. I'm collaborating with a talented UofT music student for the score but still need to find me some voice actors.

Hamsters with Mustaches!

Was so grateful for this opportunity because who doesn't want to draw hamsters - three webisodes I helped board at Six Point last summer using Storyboard Pro:

L.A... I miss your dry heat

Some cacti! I was fortunate enough to intern at 6 POINT HARNESS this summer and IT WAS SO GREAT!!! I worked at a wonderful studio AND got paid for it AND spent every weekend and many evenings becoming a bonafide foodie and exploring the humungous-you-really-need-a-bloody-car-city of Los Angeles.

Something for life drawing class!
I meant to colour it but... fell asleep and never worked on it again.

Mice in a Submarine

One of my 4th year pitches involves two mice in a submarine who explore pipes and waterways before getting sucked into a public outdoor swimming pool where they are terrorized by fat sunbathers and obnoxious children... ending tbd.

This is what my house looks like! Except not surrounded by lots of other houses. And I don't have a car.

3rd Year Group Film

Some stuff for our 3rd year group film "Grounded", which is about some bunnies and a scarf and some balloons and some clouds.
