Y3 Life Drawing: Some heroes and villains

Wah so many things to upload... There used to be a giant spider in the back, but I rushed the composition so it was no good and cropped the whole thing.

Convenience Store: More Raccoons

Not quite finished...

FX13

It's wk. 8 of school which makes this material... 10 weeks old (whoops!)

Rounded up the summer with four days of FanExpo again and had a pretty good time playing with magnets, tictacs, and cash. We jumped into this art contest because they offered free pencils... but then we didn't win and they got to keep the art...

I did a commission for a different cat-lover also called Nancy:

And my unfaltering love for Harry Potter:

WINGFOLK: birdshit!

I always wanted to print a book!

But it needed a theme... so I went with BIRDS. Spent a good part of Jul/Aug drawing various beaky things and used FanExpo again as a deadline for yet another mini venture.

There are bits of everything... doodles from the ROM, some rendering, some graphic design:

Experiments: Inkodye and Blockprinting

I went to Aboveground and found this super cool light-sensitive stuff called INKODYE by Lumi. The negative wasn't dark enough so I had to go over parts of it with a sharpie but it still turned out okay. Really want to do some vintage photos later:

Some blockprinting on paper and fabric for my mini bird book:

Indonesia

I promptly spent all my freelance earnings on a trip to Indonesia (+ 2 day Tokyo side trip!). Wish I drew more but it was either too hot to function or I was running around like an Amazing Race contestant.

TAAFI: Caught in the Act

Color key:

We (classmates Chris Ricardo Pierre & Steeeve) spent a good part of May working on this tiny tiny mini-film for TAAFI with the prompt "Caught in the Act". The hardest bit (there were a lot of hard bits...) was keeping it under 19 seconds and still have it make sense.

I worked on uhhh a bit of everything... mainly art direction, layout, compositing (bleh!), animation for the mice with instruments, and lots and lots of inbetweening and cleanup.

Older layout: sorely tempted to make it black and white because black and white is gorgeous, but decided it was too Papermany and needed to learn more color theory anyway.

Bad Dad

Spent the other part of May on this children's book freelance project for author Derek Munson. It's about how dad makes mistakes but he isn't all that bad :)

Y2: Last Hurrah

We spent a few weeks on creature design in life drawing class. Some bird crocodiles, capybara kangaroos, koala parrots, centaurs and a lot of herpderp:

I wish I did more but then the semester ended.
Costume life drawing 5-15min:

WHOOPS this was actually the first painting assignment of the semester... so bad with regular posting.

Oh almost forgot about animation... roughly 2 weeks of work, a week/character:

The remorseful crocodile, strongly influenced by classmate Josh's piggy :)

And lastly... some nude drawings I was reluctant to post. Sucking at life drawing in first year was a forever humbling experience; at least these are a little better than those were. 1min, 2min, and 5min

I tried to pull some Milt Kahl magic...ha!...
